George Smith

I'm W George G Smith I was born in crail in 1947 educated at Crail primary then at Waid Academy in Anstruther.
I have been a commercial fisherman all my life doing various types of fishing for lobsters and crabs from crail to white fish and prawns out of Pittenweem.
Then when on holiday one year I saw a street artist spray painting I was instantly amazed by the vibrant colours and textures he created with only the use of crumpled paper a bit of sponge a palette knife an old sock and a tin lid.
The paintings he created were truly amazing and this I found very interesting and had to try for myself  but not for a few years then, with interest renewed I researched what type of media was used and the type of aerosol spray paint cans
My first few attempts were just that attempts but with patience and practice I learned how to apply the layers of paint and create textures to produce artistic paintings
And each one is unique due to the way the paint is manipulated and sprayed
Being a self taught artist it is still a learning curve as to what can be achieved by using this technique.
