Julian Duncan

Julian Duncan has been working as an artist since the early Nineties embracing a variety of mediums.  Besides creating installations and sculptures exhibited in galleries, clubs and assorted venues, his work also includes film, video and latterly photography.

An extended trip to the USA in the year 2000 inspired him to purchase a 35mm SLR camera to record his journey.  Inspired by the results, his camera later became the tool that has created the foundation of this work.

Finding inspiration in the form of found objects that can come from various sources be it in street traders in Barcelona to Scottish car boot sales or a skip in East London, all the finds have a personal appeal, be it aesthetic, humorous, surreal or ambiguous.

Julian lives with the “finds” he wants to work with before deciding how he wishes them to be represented and in what shape and form, thus making a new reality.

Using lighting and manipulation with a slide copier he further intensifies the photographic imagery, enhancing it with collage until he reaches the desired result.
